Traders in Cape Coast optimistic about increased Farmers Day sales

Cape Coast, Nov. 30, GNA – As all stakeholders gear up for the 37th Farmers Day celebration in Cape Coast, some traders are optimistic about increased sales during the various activities to mark the Day on December 3 at the Adisadel College Park.

A five-day Agricultural Fair and Trade Exhibition, a prelude to the main event on Friday, was launched by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture on Monday to offer farmers from the various regions the platform to showcase their agricultural produce and potentials.

The much anticipated regional focus days, where regions will showcase their agricultural potentials, rich culture and foods, will be the toast for the traders.

Eating traditional foods from the historic land of Cape Coast is one of the most exciting experiences of the culture and customs of the region aside the ambiance of the castle, forts and enviable academic institutions.
Some traders, who had begun mounting their stands close to the venue, told the Ghana News Agency that it was their time to cash in after waiting for years to host the national event, and were hopeful of good sales.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the Guest of honour at the event to honour the farmers and fishers for their hard work, which would be chaired by Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, the Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area.
Mr Stephen Ansah, a trader who owns an agro-chemical shop, said there was high patronage for some agro-chemicals notable of farmers during such occasions.
Mr Isaac Paa Kwesi Inkum, the Regional Chairman of the Hoteliers Association, commended the government for bringing the programme to Cape Coast.
“Many hotels are fully booked and we are ready to provide the best customer service to our clients and make some good profit,” he said.
Mr Inkum appealed for more programmes to be held in the region to sustain the hotel and hospitality industry.
