HIS CONTINUOUS contribution to the betterment of Ghana’s health sector, coupled with his indefatigable work ethic, has once again earned him plaudits by top industry players and stakeholders in the country.

Dr. Felix Anyah, Board Chairman of the Ho Teaching Hospital, in his usual style on Saturday night picked two more awards in the health category at this year’s edition of ‘Ghana’s Most Respected CEO Awards’ held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.

At a colourful ceremony which had in attendance a host of top CEOs from across various sectors, Dr. Anyah was adjudged the ‘Most Respected CEO in Wellness’ as well as the ‘Most Respected CEO in Healthcare’.

The awards are in recognition of his impact and immense contribution to the improvement of the health sector through the promotion of healthy living among the citizenry.

Shortly after picking up the awards, the renowned health practitioner in an interview with DAILY GUIDE bemoaned the lack of or poor awareness being created on wellness among people, stressing that wellness promotion is even more important than building hospitals.

“We are not emphasising on wellness enough as compared to building and equipping hospitals.

How to improve health, how to prevent diseases is more important.

“Let’s promote and improve upon healthy living as well as wellness than building hospitals. Now is the time for us to redefine wellness and re-introduce it to the masses,” he stated.

Dr. Anyah added that his office had already begun arrangements with some partners towards an initiative aimed at redefining wellness among the masses and re-introducing same to them.

The two awards picked by the medical practitioner is the fourth consecutive set of the same awards he has picked over the years.

In July this year, Dr. Anyah also received the highly coveted Millennium Excellence Award in Medicine, in recognition of his priceless contribution to healthcare delivery in Ghana and nation building.

Dr. Anyah has a glowing record of picking up various awards for his immense contributions towards the betterment of Ghana’s health sector.

From 2015 to 2016, he was the board chairman for the Health Facilities and Regulatory Agency.

In 2017, following the inauguration of Akufo-Addo as President of the Republic, Dr. Anyah was appointed the Acting CEO of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, serving in that position for a year.

Dr. Anyah has over 40 years of practicing experience in the health sector with 32 of those years in the private health sector.
