Fans have come for the head of Ghanaian musician, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, following a bold statement he recently made on social media.

The multi-award-winning rapper took to Twitter Sunday to blow his own trumpet without provocation from anyone.

In a tweet sighted by GHPage.com, Sarkodie claimed not only to be “the best” musician among his peers, but the only one Ghana’s music industry would ever have, particularly in the rap fraternity.

He wrote: “I’m not the best, I’m the one”

The tweet has since incited mixed reactions online, stoking conversations from other celebrities and fans alike.

Undoubtedly Sarkodie is one of Ghana’s biggest exports, hence claiming to be “the best” is not far from the truth. He is a great asset when it comes to rap culture in Ghana, Africa, and the world at large.

While some diehard fans of the rapper agreed to his assertion, others questioned why he will make such a proclamation when he has not achieved some obvious feats that signal greatness.

A user responded to the tweet asked when Sarkodie was going to grab a GRAMMY nomination or win one for himself and the country.

In the view of this tweep, Sarkodie can only call himself the greatest if he wins the Grammy, until then, he can stick with King Sark.

There have always been comparisons amongst music lovers as to who the best rapper in Ghana is.

Anytime this debate pops up, heavy-weight rappers like Manifest, Kwesi Arthur, EL, and the others make it into the list.
