THE SHOPPING Mall business in Kumasi has received massive boost, following the opening of the Western Mall on the Bantama High Street.

Owned by Isaac Owusu, Western Mall is the only mall in Kumasi that is fully owned by an indigenous entrepreneur who also owns several other businesses.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, opening the mall, stated that government could not singularly create jobs for the unemployed and it was refreshing that the private sector was getting involved.

According to him, the private sector’s support is crucial in order to help create employment for the youth to support national transformation; and the government will continue to create the enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

Mr. Mensah therefore applauded the Western Mall CEO, Mr. Owusu, for his hard work, commitment and vision to provide jobs for people.

He therefore admonished the affluent in the country to take advantage of the business environment by also creating jobs for others to help reduce unemployment, saying, “The rich in society should emulate Mr. Owusu’s example by opening industries and creating jobs for the citizenry.”

According to him, the private sector played significant roles in the countries that had developed, noting that the private sector was very important.

Members of the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and Ing Nana Poku Agyeman, the Kumasi Urban Road’s Director, graced the programme.

Mr. Owusu said “Western Mall is meant to give Kumasi a difference in shopping,” assuring of rendering better services.

He said Western Mall would make their prices competitive “so that all can benefit from the mall.”

A representative of the Offinsohene, Nana Wiafe Akenten, admonished the workers of Western Mall to be respectful to customers to help the mall to progress.
