Ho, Nov. 19, GNA – Young entrepreneurs have been urged to shift focus towards the value- chains in agribusiness rather than venturing into crop production or tilling the land.
The idea and the understanding of the dynamics of the system should be a key focal point when venturing into agribusiness.
This was made known during a young entrepreneur’s breakfast meeting at the Sky plus hotel on the side-lines of the ongoing fifth Volta Trade and Investment Fair in Ho, the Volta regional capital.
Mr Senyo Hosi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, said young entrepreneurs must learn how to engage in smaller spots in the agribusiness before moving up for great deals.
He urged the young ones not to rush for wrong agriculture spots but also understand the opportunities into the value- chain method.
The entrepreneurship breakfast summit was a unique conference for youth centred on innovation and entrepreneurship.
The forum, which brought speakers for networking opportunities for the young ones, features three interactive panel discussions namely, panel of finance which was moderated by Dzifa Bampoe from Media General, panel of value addition, and the agribusiness panel hosted by Mr Bernard Koku Avle, from Citi FM/TV.
On agribusiness, panel members such as Mr Hosi and others presented an in-depth structure of their business set ups, revealing how difficult it was from the initial process.
It was discussed that farming would not thrive on agri-peasantry but a commercial or large-scale venture.
The value chain is a set of activities that adds value to a product consisting of actors and actions that improve a product while linking commodity producers to processors and markets.
The combination of activities, according to the organisers, would help students and young entrepreneurs present to develop new skills while boosting their entrepreneurial spirit, immersing them in a community of like-minded peers and forging lifelong connections.
It was on the theme “Promoting Sustainable Trade and Investments-The Youth in Focus.”
It also features several young Ghanaian entrepreneurs such as, Emi-Berth Quantson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), KAWA MOKKA Coffee, Dr Eli Agbloyor, Head of Research, TESA capital, Reverend Mawuli Benson, CEO, Glofert, Leila Djansi, international film Maker, Selase Woanyah, CEO, DCI Microfinance, Tonyi Senaya, CEO, Horseman Shoes, Kafui Adza, CEO, Akosombo Bar, Felix Kamasa, CEO, Maphix Trust Farms, and Nehemiah Attigah, CEO, Hatua.
Earlier, Eliphas M. Barine, the Kenyan High Commissioner who participated in the forum, said Africa had challenges in several sectors, but there was the need for all to be part of the rebuilding process.
Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta regional Minister, called on the entrepreneurs to be prepared to take risks to be able to “make it.”
He noted that the future belonged to the young people.
