Ho (VR), Nov. 16, GNA – Mr Victor Seshie, the Volta and Oti Regional Officer of the Union of Industry, Commerce and Finance (UNICOF) workers, says the 2022 budget must focus on improving the living conditions of the citizenry.

He said the cost of living was high and there was a need for the government to come up with measures to reduce the burden on Ghanaians.
On the Labour front, Mr Seshie advised there was the need for the government to constantly sit with labour unions to look at issues of welfare and other conditions.
“Government must continue to dialogue with labour unions whenever necessary to quell unexpected agitations.”
Mrs Francisca Osei, the Volta and Oti Administrative Assistant at the Trades Union Congress (TUC), on her part, called for efforts to reduce the high rate of unemployment in the country.
Some business owners in the Ho Municipality expressed varied expectations on the Budget, saying “efforts must be made to reduce the financial burden on the citizenry.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance has hinted the 2022 Budget would focus on expanding the economy’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
A statement signed and issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit to the Ghana News Agency said the budget would dwell on “creating a climate-friendly entrepreneurial state to address unemployment and import substitution.”
Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister of Finance, will, on behalf of the President, put before Parliament, the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of Government on Wednesday, November 17.
It is in accordance with Article 179 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 21 (3) of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016, (Act 921).
