2022 Budget: Bawumia Won’t Be In Parliament – Oppong Nkrumah

Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has announced Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will binbe absent in Parliament during the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta presentation of the budget statement for the 2022 fiscal year.

Dr. Bawumia is currently acting in the capacity of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who is currently in Paris for the 75th-anniversary ceremony of the founding of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The President is using part of his official leave to attend the event.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah in a Facebook post regarding the budget presentation on Wednesday November 17, 2021 stated that “Today is expected to be a good day for young Ghanaians looking for support to fuel their business ideas.

“We look forward to some relief for road vehicle users, while at the same time equitably raising revenues to speed up the fixing of our roads.

“Local industry can expect measures that will make their products more competitive while dealers benefit from same measures to source the same products locally.

“And no, while acting as President of the Republic, VP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cannot join the finance minister to the chamber today. It will be out of place.”

This will be the sixth budget of the Akufo-Addo administration, in accordance with Article 179 of the 1992 constitution.
