Queen’s Baton Relay Hits Jubilee House Today

President Akufo-Addo is expected to receive the Queen’s Baton Relay at the Jubilee House today, Fredrick Lartey Otu, Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Queen’s Baton Relay has confirmed.

The Queen’s Baton Relay which started on October 7, from the Queen of England, is currently in the country and will later go through Cyprus, Malta, Nigeria, Gambia and Sierra Leone.

A short ceremony is expected to greet its arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra before noon.

Later in the day, the Baton Relay which will be brought by an official from Sierra Leone will be sent to the Jubilee House where President Akufo-Addo will receive it amid a ceremony.

On the same day, it will move through the Liberation Circle, Opeibea House, Stanbic Heights, Airport bypass Road, Aviation, El Wak, Tema Valco Roundabout, and the Harbour among other places.

Tomorrow, the Queen’s Baton Relay will begin at the British High Commission through Liberation road, (Ako Adjei interchange) and other places in Accra.

The Manhyia Palace, Kumasi where it will be received by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will also have its turn tomorrow and later move to the Rattray Park, Bonwire Tourist Center, and Adinkra Village at Ntonsu.

About 100 dignitaries and people at high places are expected to receive it during the two-day visit to Ghana.

An official from Ghana will send it to Cameroun, its next destination.
