Just In: Medikal remanded into police custody for 5 days, court rules

Rapper Medikal, also known as Samuel Adu Frimpong, has been remanded in prison for the next five days.

This came after the rapper pleaded not guilty to a single charge of displaying weapons and ammunition.

The accused person was remanded into prisons custody for five days by a court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Essandoh, a High Court judge sitting with additional responsibility as a circuit court judge.

The accused’s lawyer, Emmanuel Yeboah Ghana, argued that his client is well-known and has lived in the country his entire life, and that he will not defy the court.

If granted bail, he said he had people to stand sureties for him, including his wife and mother.

While opposing bail, the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey, stated that the court must consider the larger society’s interests.

He claimed that there is an aspect of the case that is still being investigated and that he should be remanded.

According to reports his wife, Fella Makafui, and his mother were in tears throughout the court session.
