17th African Investigative Journalism Conference takes off across five cities

The 2021 African Investigative Journalism Conference, the biggest annual gathering of working journalists on the continent is taking off across five cities as a hybrid event owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The conference is taking place simultaneously in Nairobi, Kenya; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Johannesburg, South Africa; Abuja, Nigeria and Dakar, Senegal from Monday, October 11, 2021, to Friday, October 15, 2021.

The first three days; October 11-13 will be dedicated to full conferencing while the 13th to 15th will be for online training.

With nearly 160 speakers and trainers, the conference will highlight some of Africa’s best pieces of journalism, share knowledge and experiences on tools and techniques for investigative reporting and present an opportunity for journalists to network and collaborate.

Some of the speakers from Ghana participating in this year’s event are; investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas; Professor of Communication and Media studies at the University of Ghana, Audrey Gadzekpo, Editor-in-Chief of The Fourth Estate, Manasseh Azure Awuni, Dubawa Ghana editor, Caroline Anipah; and Citi FM/Citi TV’s Jonas Nyabor.

The AIJC has been running since 2005 and will be holding the 17th edition this year.
