A hapless robber has been arrested after reportedly trying to hold up a bank less than 24 hours after his successful first raid at the same branch.
The San Diego man was arrested on Tuesday in Fountain Valley, California, accused of attempting to rob Chase bank twice.
Samuel Brown, 33, has pleaded not guilty to charges of second degree robbery.
He is accused of showing staff at the building in Orange County a note during his first visit demanding cash over the counter, police have said.
Fountain Valley officers said they responded to panicked calls reporting a robbery at around 3pm on Monday.
The suspect then fled with a “large amount of cash” before officers arrived at the scene.
But the man, who has prior convictions for robbery, is accused of returning to the scene of his crime a day later – but this time he didn’t get away with it.
The force received another call of a robbery in progress on Tuesday at the same place and were stunned to find it was the same man seen on CCTV a day earlier.
Brown remains in custody on a bail of $172,500, according to prison records.
He is scheduled to appear in court on October 21 at the West Justice Center in Westminster, local reports say.
Police did not confirm the amount stolen, or if any of the money had been recovered.
