I Slept In A Kiosk When I First Came To Accra

Ghanaian Gospel musician Isiah Kwadwo Ampong well known as Great Ampong has shared his story on the experiences he had when he first came to Accra.

Sharing his story, Great Ampong disclosed that before he came to Accra, he viewed it as heaven. He disclosed that he came to Accra to seek greener pastures. However, upon his arrival, he realized it was not as he viewed it.

In an interview with Adom TV’s Afia Amankwah on Mashasie, the “Akokofunu” hitmaker stated that he arrived in Accra in 1996 to live with his brother. He stated that he had primitive thinking so when coming to Accra, he carried along with some foodstuffs from the village to enjoy only to find out that he would be staying in a wooden structure.

“I first came to Accra on August 20, 1996,” he disclosed. “When I was coming, my brother didn’t tell me we were going to sleep in a kiosk.”

“I brought foodstuffs with the intention to cook and eat and live comfortably, but to my surprise, I was going to live in a kiosk. I had to give them away after realizing the reality.”

He disclosed that he started his hustle in Accra by selling biscuits at Odorkor First Light. “He was selling graphic newspapers, and I was selling biscuits in traffic at Odorkor First Light.”
