Oct. 6 (UPI) — A national park in Alaska announced that a corpulent brown bear dubbed 480 Otis has claimed his fourth title as the winner of Fat Bear Week.

Fat Bear Week, an annual event organized by Katmai National Park & Preserve, calls on members of the public to vote on their favorites of the park’s brown bears as the pack on the pounds for their winter hibernation.

Park officials said 480 Otis, who claimed the crown in 2014, 2016 and 2017, was named this year’s winner, defeating runner-up 151 Walker.

The champion bear’s weight was estimated at about 1,000 pounds in 2020, and officials said he appears to be even larger this year.

The park dubbed 480 Otis “the portly patriarch of paunch” in a Facebook post.

“As we celebrate his win, like a true champion 480 is still hard at work chowing down,” the post said.
