The Ghana Chapter of World Youth Opportunity (WYO), a youth-focused non-profit organization, has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) and sports supplies to the Ayawaso Central Education Directorate in Accra to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and physical education activities.

The items, which include cartons of sanitisers, facemasks, jerseys and footballs according to the leadership of WYO, are specifically meant to benefit pupils from the New Town Experimental Basic and the Kotobabi 11 Basic Schools.

Presenting the items to the Directorate, founder and president of WYO, Mr Nafis Quaye, said the motivation behind the gesture was to ensure that the fight against the pandemic is tackled from the very basic level of the community.

Appealing to the pupils to take their lessons seriously, Mr Quaye also emphasized on the need to have respect for authority and to continuously take key interest in personal protection and hygiene, particularly in this pandemic.

“As a philanthropic organization, we have done this in other basic schools including Alajo 1&2 Basic Schools where we donated computer laboratories. As a youth focused NGO, we are going to do more in the future to ensure that WYO contributes to the education and training to empower the youth of our community” Mr. Quaye emphasized.

The CEO of the Ghana Chapter of WYO, Godfred Tawiah Gogo, reiterated the need for teachers to continuously serve as guides in schools in order to ensure progress and healthy educational wellbeing of pupils.
