Sept. 28 (UPI) — A Jack Russell terrier broke a Guinness World Record when he ran the bases at Dodger Stadium in only 21.06 seconds.

Lori Signs, owner and trainer of the canine, named Macho, put balloons at each of the bases to motivate the dog to touch each base in order to pop them as he passed.

“I didn’t sleep at all, nervous jitters,” Signs told the Los Angeles Daily News prior to Macho’s run. “No matter what, he is still a dog. There could be a stray pigeon, a gopher or a leaf that falls. We were all just holding our breath.”

Macho managed to beat the goal time of 24 seconds set by Guinness. The dog was awarded a certificate for the fastest time for a dog to run the bases at a Major League Baseball stadium.

“He was perfect,” Signs said. “He hit a grand slam home run. It was amazing. I am so proud.”

Signs said Macho was rewarded for his record-breaking achievement with a dinner of prime rib.
