Rocky Dawuni has stated in a new radio interview that he got his Grammy nomination-obviously the best highlight of his career- at the time he least expected it as he was more focused on creating content.

Rocky Dawuni is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter and record producer who performs his signature ‘Afro Roots’ sound which is a mixture of Reggae, Afrobeat, Highlife and Soul music. He currently lives between Ghana and Los Angeles.

His 6th studio album, ‘Branches of The Same Tree’ got a nod for Best Reggae Album in December 58th Grammy Awards in 2015.

He told radio personality and rapper Andy Dosty on Hit FM’s Day Break Hitz that the Grammy nomination came when he was not expecting or looking for a nomination. But was only focused on creating a record in the studio.

“My GRAMMY nomination came when I wasn’t looking for nomination. I was just focused on creating a record, he said.

Rocky also urged Ghanaian artistes to concentrate on creating vastly logical albums, that would reflect Ghanaian culture to the world.

“Artistes should focus on creating greatly standardized albums; the body of works that would reflect our culture to the world”.
