Sept. 23 (UPI) — Kelly Clarkson is back with new music.

The 39-year-old singer and The Voice coach released the song “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You)” on Wednesday.

In “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You),” Clarkson sings about celebrating and enjoying the holidays despite a breakup.

“I’ll be hanging every light I find in this house / Playin’ Christmas music so loud / This year Christmas won’t be quite so blue,” Clarkson sings.

“Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You)” is the lead single from Clarkson’s forthcoming holiday album, When Christmas Comes Around…

“My purpose for choosing this lyric as the title of this project was to bring forth a sense of reality to the fact that we are probably in very different places emotionally ‘When Christmas Comes Around…'” Clarkson wrote on Instagram.

“Some of us are consumed with a new love, some of us reminded of loss, some filled with optimism for the coming new year, other elated for some much deserved time away from the chaos our work lives can sometimes bring us,” she said. “Wherever you are, and whatever you may be experiencing, I wanted everyone to be able to connect to a message on this album.”

Clarkson said she thinks “there is no better time of year” than the holidays “to breathe hope into one’s life and let possibility wander.”

When Christmas Comes Around… features a mix of old and new holiday songs, including collaborations with Chris Stapleton, Ariana Grande and Brett Eldredge.

The album is Clarkson’s first since Meaning of Life, released in 2017, and her first holiday album since Wrapped in Red, released in 2013.

Clarkson filed for divorce from her husband, Brandon Blackstock, in June 2020 after nearly four years of marriage. In July of this year, Clarkson was ordered to pay Blackstock nearly $200,000 in spousal and child support. The pair have two children, daughter River Rose, 6, and son Remington Alexander, 4.
