Sept. 21 (UPI) — Sarah Dash, a singer and co-founding member of group Labelle that featured Patti LaBelle, has died at the age of 76.

Dash’s fellow Labelle members Patti LaBelle and Nona Hendryx confirmed her death on social media.

A cause of death has not been disclosed.

“We were just on-stage together on Saturday and it was such a powerful and special moment! Sarah Dash was an awesomely talented, beautiful and loving soul who bless my life and the lives of so many others in more ways than I can say,” Patti LaBelle said on Twitter as part of a lengthy statement.

“I pray that her previous memory brings us peace and comfort. Rest in power my dear sister. I love you always!” Patti LaBelle continued.

Hendryx uploaded a video of Dash performing onstage to Instagram.

“Words are inadequate so I will use few. We spoke a musical language, music says it best. Singing brought us together,” Hendryx captioned the clip.

“You and Pat were singing so joyfully the other night, we talked & texted on Saturday, now you’re gone. I can’t believe it. Nightbird, why not let heaven be your home,” she continued.

The group, known for wearing spacesuits, first began as Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles before they were revamped to Labelle in 1971.

LaBelle is best known for their 1974 hit “Lady Marmalade.”

The band split in 1976 with Dash going to become a solo artist and a session singer who has recorded with Keith Richards and the Rolling Stones.
