The former National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, says former President John Dramani Mahama is not the only competent person to lead the party again in 2024.

According to him, there are equally competent and better people like former President Mahama who can also lead the NDC party to capture power and they will need support.

His comment comes as a response to some publications that, he (Boateng Gyan) has been appointed by former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffour as his campaign manager as he intends to contest in the party’s internal elections ahead of 2024.

Dr. Duffour appears to be the only person who will be joining the race to contest former President John Dramani Mahama in the next NDC presidential primaries with massive support from NDC cadres.

Speaking in an interview with Kaakiyre Ofori Ayim on Atinka FM AM Drive on Thursday, Boateng Gyan said, “He has never been informed by the former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffour to run as his campaign manager to contest their upcoming party internal elections to choose who leads the party in 2024.

He denied and called on the general public to ignore and treat such publications as false.

“I’m a founding member of the NDC and therefore I know the rules and regulations of the party so I wouldn’t go contrary to the party’s constitution. Has any party official come out to declare any presidential ambition?” Boateng Gyan quizzed.

He added that, “Kwabena Duffour has not even yet announced his intention to contest former President John Mahama adding that if he does and I’m called on board to offer my assistance, I wouldn’t hesitate.”

“And I can confidently tell you that the NDC as a party has many equally competent and qualified people who are capable of leading the party to win power in 2024,” he stated.
