The 47-year-old actress discussed her role as Septa Unella and her friendship with her Game of Thrones co-star Lena Headey during Wednesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Waddingham played Unella, the nun who followed and shouted “Shame!” at Cersei Lannister (Headey) during Cersei’s infamous walk of atonement, in Seasons 5 and 6 of Game of Thrones.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Waddingham said most people don’t recognize her from the role.

“That was my finest, prettiest hour,” the actress joked.

“I mean, they are right, left and center now, and thankfully, everyone’s shocked,” she added of the audience. “So that’s good.”

Waddingham’s costume, which resembled a nun’s habit, obscured most of her body except for her face.

“I loved it, because it meant I could just sit sleeping in the trailer for hours on end, look like I’d been dug up, and they’d say, ‘Yeah, that looks great,'” she said.

Waddingham said she and Headey developed a friendship on set, despite their characters hating one another.

“We met on [set] and just fell in love with each other immediately,” Waddingham said. “I just think sometimes you meet what we call in England, birds … and you’re just like, yeah, you’re a bird, I’m a bird, that’s it, we’re in.”

Waddingham now plays Rebecca Welton on the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso, which is in the midst of a second season. The actress is nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the role.
