Netherlands internationals of Ghanaian descents Myron Boadu and Brain Brobbey have been nominated to win the prestigious Golden Boy award after making the 40-man shortlist for the 2021 edition.

The list was pruned from 60 to 40 players on Thursday and will further be narrowed to twenty in October.

The Award is given to the best player in Europe below the age of 21 and was introduced in 2003 by Italian newspaper Tuttosport.

Boadu, who secured a move to AS Monaco in the summer transfer window enjoyed a descent season with Dutch side AZ Alkmaar and has therefore been recognized as one of the performing youngsters.

Brain Brobbey on the other hand impressed for giants Ajax before his move to RB Leipzig in the summer.

The duo will have to beat off competition from the likes of Pedri (FC Barcelona), Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid), Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen), Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) and Mason Greenwood (Manchester United) to win the prestigious award.

The winner will be announced in November.
