Hearts of Oak Board member Vincent Sowah Odotei believes Ghanaian coaches are not competent enough to handle the Black Stars at this point.

Charles Kwabla Akonnor and his deputies were sacked on Monday following the Black Stars poor showing in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa.

The poor performance of the team under Charles Akonnor has led to some fans calling for the appointment of an expatriate coach because they are difficult to be influenced, unlike local coaches.

Vincent Odotei Sowuah a former Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon says the local coaches should stop being sentimental about landing the Black Stars job since they are not competent.

“I find it really really worrying when people are just sentimental”. “The whole England until recently the governor of their central Bank was a Canadian.”

“The one who transformed the English Premier league some 25 years ago when we were all watching German soccer was a Scottish, what’s wrong with it, we are too sentimental and being impatient to build structures that will make us sustainable and competitive” “So we need someone who will build a strong team and agree with the project that’s the strategic plan,” he said.

“We have some fantastic Ghanaian coaches but coaching has gone beyond just your tactics on the field of play.”

“You are a manager, you have to know psychology, you need to have a whole lot of some level of competence to deliver on the job,” Odotei concluded.

A three-member committee has been appointed to select a new Black Stars coach after CK Akonnor was sacked on Monday.
