Ghanaian Highlife musician, Quarme Zaggy has fumed over government’s initiative to construct a National Cathedral.

Describing the decision as unnecessary, he said it is at the expense of the lack of vital social amenities in the country.

“We don’t set the priorities right as a country because the things that Ghana as a nation needs, I don’t think National Cathedral comes in at all. I don’t think it’s important for us to waste resources on such a venture, so such things are worrying and won’t bring improvement in our lives”.

In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast’s Kastle FM, Quarme Zaggy said it is sad that the government continues to focus on trivial and less important issues.

“We are not serious as a country because we don’t focus on what it’s important that will help us to move forward, so what will the cathedral do for us?” he said.

While some celebrities find it absurd for the government to construct a cathedral at the expense of more pressing needs in the country, others have embraced the decision.
