Ghanaian gospel musician, Joe Mettle has refuted claims that Diana Hamilton winning the 2021 Artiste of the year was meritorious.

The musician who won the topmost award at the 2017 awards said it would be unfortunate for people to claim that there were machinations done to give the award to Diana Hamilton.

Joe Mettle speaking on the mid-morning show on Rainbow Radio 87.5fm posited that Daina Hamiltiopn was deserving of the overall award.

He argued that the female gospel musician did so well the year under review and was deserving to be crowned as the Artiste of the Year.

“She had worked hard, she had done a lot of works. So I believe it was time for her to be acknowledged as such. There was no ‘kululu’. She deserved the award, he stressed.

Gospel artiste Diana Hamilton became the second gospel artiste to grab the topmost award for the Vodafone Ghana Awards (VGMAs).

In total, Diana Hamilton picked up four awards on the night, making her the top awardee at the ceremony.

She won the Gospel Artiste of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Popular Song of the Year, and Coveted Artiste of The Year.
