The National Security Coordinator, Maj Gen Francis Adu-Amanfoh (rtd), has indicated that the extent to which Ghanaians can enjoy human rights is hinged on the prevailing state of security in the country.

In his remarks at the Ghana Bar Association conference in Bolgatanga, where he spoke extensively on the threats posed by rising lawlessness to Ghana’s democracy, Maj Gen Adu-Amanfoh (rtd) stated emphatically that Ghanaians can only enjoy human rights in an atmosphere of peace and security.

He, therefore, urged Ghanaians to resist all forms of unpatriotic tendencies that have the tendency to create a lawless society which in turn compromise national security.

He also encouraged the public to fully support security and law enforcement agencies to deal decisively with those who take the path of lawlessness.

“This is not the time to disrespect the police or any other law enforcement agency. It is rather the time to support and encourage our security men and women to give their all in protecting our collective security. It is for us all to watch out for each other,” he said.

The Coordinator said that it was in the collective interest of all to act in cooperation with state security and law enforcement agencies to safeguard national security, peace, sound democracy and social harmony for the happiness and freedoms of the citizens of Ghana.
