President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has settled on banker, economist, and a former MP for Okaikwei North Elizabeth K. T. Sackey as the new Mayor for Accra.

Our sources told Rainbowradioonline.com that the committee that worked on the selection process settled on Nii Adjei Sowah the incumbent but the President chose the former MP.

Rainbowradioonline.com in May this year published a news story stating that the former legislator would be Accra’s first female Mayor if approved.

She has been described as an efficient and tactical politician by her admirers.

She was first elected into the parliament of Ghana to represent the Okaikwei North constituency in January 2005.

She represented the constituency again in the 5th parliament of Ghana following her re-election in December 2008.

She also contested and won the 2012 December polls on the ticket of the elephant family.

Prior to becoming a Member of Parliament, Sackey worked as a Chief Clerk at Ghana Commercial Bank.

She is married with four children. She is a Christian who worships at the Church of Pentecost.
