A member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Courage Nobi, has asserted that the Akufo-Addo government is doing well to complete most government projects it inherited.

Speaking on ‘TonTon Sansan’ on TV XYZ hosted by Prince Minkah, the NPP man refuted claims that the current government had abandoned projects to commence similar ones at the expense of the taxpayer.

“The NPP government is committed to completing inherited projects,” Nobi stated.

“NDC promised some 200 new Senior High Schools (E-blocks) but couldn’t complete them all. They were able to finish about 29 or so but when we assumed power, we have been able to complete about 29 of the E-blocks,” he argued.

In the health sector, Courage Nobi also noted that their government has been able to operationalise some hospitals across the country.

Although he did not mention reasons, Nobi emphasised that the Akufo-Addo government would not have continued the maternity complex at the Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi which has not been worked on for about 3 decades.

On roads, Nobi also said work was progressing steadily on some road projects in various areas across the country which could be seen and felt by the people. He also noted that work was ongoing on the part of the Eastern Corridor road that links Kpandai to the northern part of the country, adding that a bridge had also been constructed on the Oti River on that stretch.

“That is a GoG funded project (Government of Ghana),” he noted saying if the tax net widening approach by the government becomes successful, more revenue can be accrued to fund some of these important projects.

Nobi was responding to concerns of some Ghanaians that the government has refused to commence work on some projects President Akufo-Addo inherited from the NDC.

Former President John Dramani Mahama, in his recent ‘thank you tour’ has bemoaned what he describes as the lack of political will on the part of the Akufo-Addo government to continue some projects he could not complete before leaving office.

Notable among the projects are the Kumawu, Afari, and Konongo Hospitals all in the Ashanti Region. Others are some road projects inherited by the NPP Government.
