Sept. 13 (UPI) — Hayley Atwell has joined the cast of Netflix’s Tomb Raider anime series.
The 39-year-old actress will voice the lead character of Lara Croft in the new series from Netflix and Legendary Television, The Hollywood Reporter said Monday.
Deadline confirmed Atwell’s casting.
The new series is based on the Square Enix action-adventure video game series. The show will take place after the video game reboot trilogy and follow Croft as she explores new territory.
Tasha Huo (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Red Sonja) will write the series and executive produce with Dmitri M. Johnson, Stephan Bugaj and Howard Bliss.
Netflix announced the show and a Skull Island anime series in January.
The Tomb Raider video games were previously adapted into two films starring Angelina Jolie as Croft. Alicia Vikander starred in a 2018 reboot.
Atwell is known for playing Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She most recently played Carter in Avengers: Endgame and voiced the character in the Disney+ series What If…?
