Information Minister, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, has said that through government’s Aquaculture for Food and Jobs initiative which was piloted in 2020, the country is seeing significant growth in domestic fish production and the creation of job opportunities along the aquaculture sub-sector.

He said this when the Minister of Fisheries and Aqua Culture Development, Mavis Hawa Koomson addressed the press on Sunday September 12 in Accra.

Mr Oppong said “Through Government’s Aquaculture for Food and Jobs initiative which was piloted in 2020, we are seeing significant growth in our domestic fish production and the creation of job opportunities along the aquaculture sub-sector.”

The Ofoadse Ayirebi lawmaker further revealed that the government the Government is also taking steps to acquire four patrol boats that will be deployed in the 4 coastal regions to aid in frequent inspection at sea as well as a research vessel for regular conduction of scientific fisheries research.

“These among several others are the steps being taken by the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture and Development, Hon. @mhawakoomson to ensure that our fishery ecosystem is kept alive and productive.”
