Former President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has noted that under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led administration, one can be indisciplined and go scot-free.

The former President made this known when he was speaking to Party faithful at Ejura in the Ashanti Region Sunday.

He cited the fracas that happened during the Ayawaso West Wugon by-election which was later boycotted by the NDC due to ill-treatment by National Security Operatives and the failure of the government to punish people who were culpable although there was a committee of enquiry that looked into happenings there.

He said because nothing was done about the abuse meted out on civilians, the same was repeated in the 2020 elections which recorded eight deaths.

“If you have a child who is stubborn and you do not ensure that he does away with bad conduct, he will continue to do it. The President formed a Committee of Enquiry to investigate the Ayawaso by-election. The Committee worked and brought its report and called out people who were complicit but until today, they have not been punished so they repeated same during the 2020 election,” he told the party faithful in Ejura.

Under the current leadership, they enjoy violence so they do not condemn it which sends a very bad signal adding that

“Impunity breeds more impunity, impunity breeds violence. When they engage in violence, Nana Addo is happy and they know they will go without any punishment and that has brought us to where we are today. Very soon, the Ejura report will be released but my prayer is that it won’t be left on a shelf to catch dust like that of the Ayawaso West Wugon report,” John Dramani Mahama said.
