Ghanaian gospel artiste and songwriter, Carl Clottey, says contemporary gospel music does not pay and that, it only pays depending on the brand and image a gospel artiste has built.

Speaking in an interview with MzGee on TV3 New Day, he said he is into contemporary music not because of money but because of his passion for music.

He recounted that he was a contestant in reality shows like ‘Bands Alive’ and ‘Voice Factory’ and others which have helped in shaping his music career and mastering his vocal abilities.

“I have been to several music reality shows like Voice factory where I learnt a lot. I learnt how to train my voice and it also helped me to be more confident. It is a great feeling to now see where I’ve gotten to”, he said.

He added that “my songs are usually from inspiration and grace. I’m blessed with melodies and it is evident in my style of singing”.

The fast-rising artiste mentioned that he always wants people to know the identity of his music and that explains why he uses local dialects like the ‘Ga Language’ in his music.

“Singing in both English and local languages is my trademark”, he added.

Carl revealed that he is not signed to any record label and is yet to be signed to one in the country.

Speaking on promotions, he stated that “promotion of music involves lots of money and I am not really known because I do little promotions”.

He added that he is putting measures in place to intensify his promotions and eventually he will hit the limelight.

“Growing up, I have always wanted to be a star through music so I am also working on my promotions as well”, he said.

Carl released his first Album in 2013 titled ‘The Way, the truth, The Life’. He also has popular songs Aforebo, One and Only, Deedew, Diwohene, Ngbooda

Currently, he is the team leader of Carl Clottey Minister and President of the Gospel Vibe Group.
