Ciza, a rising South African Afrobeats musician and son of lead singer of the Mafikizolo Afro-pop group, Nhlanhla Nciza, has described himself as ‘one of the Covid-19 artistes’.

Talking to eTV Ghana’s Foster Romanus during an interview on the Late Nite Celebrity Show, he intimated that the sudden hit of the COVID-19 pandemic came with both positive and negative effects to him and his music career.

“I wrote a lot of songs when the COVID hit. That’s when the creativity came in so I’m one of those COVID-19 babies”.

According to him, the pandemic’s impact on him was fifty percent positive and fifty percent negative.

“My creative process and how my career started booming was because of COVID-19. We were locked up so we just started making a lot of music and that is when I released my first single. It was a blessing in disguise because I was actually supposed to go elsewhere to study but Covid hit so that didn’t happen and I just got lots of inspiration and created music, released my first single and it just blew up,” he explained.

The sad part, he said, was the fact that he could not perform his songs to his fans due to the pandemic and the lockdown, as well as other measures taken against it but in all, Cuzi admitted that it felt amazing being able to write all those songs and getting great feedback on his first single.
