Aug. 25 (UPI) — An 11-year-old girl had a close encounter with a baby shark at North Myrtle Beach, S.C., that was captured on video.

Nicole Oister was recording her daughter, Sara, playing on a boogie board at the beach Sunday when the girl suddenly ran out of the water.

“I thought maybe she was stung by a jellyfish,” Oister said, according to The Sun News.

Sara ran after seeing a fin. The family reviewed the video and determined it was a small shark.

“That night she was scared about it,” Oister told The Sun News. “The next day we just kept encouraging her that it doesn’t happen that often … She’s been going back in the water, just staying close to us and just continuing to be aware of her surroundings.”

The family shared the video with WMBF News.

“She’s nervous for sure, but we know that we’re in their home, so we’ll continue to swim with caution,” Oister told the station.
