June 22 (UPI) — A team of 63 weather reporters, led by Al Roker, broke a Guinness World Record for the most people in an online weather reporting relay.

Roker, the weather forecaster for NBC’s Today show, celebrated Rokerthon, his annual celebration of the start of summer, by leading the weather reporters from 63 NBC-affiliated stations across the United States in a weather reporting relay.

A Guinness adjudicator confirmed live on the air that the team had successfully set the world record. The record-keeping organization had set a goal of 50 for the weather marathon, and the attempt ended with a total 63 reporters delivering the weather.

Previous Rokertons have seen Guinness records set for longest weather broadcast (34 hours), a one-week trip to all 50 states and last year’s virtual record: most people in an online sandwich-making relay.
