Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey will wear the number 5 shirt at Arsenal next season.
Thomas Partey joined Arsenal in October 2020 from Atletico Madrid for a free reported to be around €50m. Partey on joining wanted the number 5 jersey but was worn by Greek center back Sokratis Papastathopoulos
However, with Sokratis having departed the Emirates in January, Thomas Partey will get to wear his favorite jersey number, he confirmed it on Instagram.
Partey wears the same number five for the Ghana national team and it was also his favourite while with Atletico Madrid.
The Ghanaian midfielder will hope to be at his best next season for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta plans to challenge for top positions.
Partey struggled in his first season in England due to injuries, making just 18 starts in the League.
