The Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF) Secretary-General, Umar Lambu, has assured that the 2021 edition of the annual Zonal Junior Open Golf Championship billed for Jos, Plateau State, will hold as scheduled.

Speaking from Abuja, Lambu said no specific date has been fixed for the competition, adding that the NGF was waiting for Plateau State’s approval to tee off the event.

He added: “The NGF is ready for this year’s Junior Open, which will hold in Jos. The Federation is only waiting for approval from Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong… whenever he is ready, we are ready, because the event is very important to us. It is one of our developmental programmes to ‘catch them young.’

“But I cannot mention any specific date, for now, owing to some issues we need to address. Hopefully, the championship should hold before September 2021.”

On the federation’s elections scheduled for September, Umar said the NGF would ensure a smooth process that would put the federation in good stead.
