Kalyjay is arguably the most popular Ghanaian Twitter personality and the number of followers he has and the level of authority he commands on the platform is completely mind-blowing.

Kalyjay is a graduate of the Ghana Institute of Journalism and works at Global Media Alliance [Y FM].

With close to 400,000 followers on Twitter alone, Kalyjay has more followers and wields greater authority than many local celebrities.

His appeal is widespread but his ability to trend hashtags with ease makes him the go-to influencer on Twitter.

Kalyjay for the past month has been tweeting vigorously about the state of affairs in Ghana and has expressed displeasure at the government’s failure to fix pertinent issues in the country.

From the ‘galamsey’ menace to unemployment to price hikes and irregular supply of water and electricity, Kalyjay thought it wise to rally the youth of Ghana behind one hashtag and draw the attention of duty-bearers to the need for the country to get fixed.

He started with the hashtag “#FixTheCountry” and had other influencers joining him and boom, the “Fix The Country” campaign has become a widespread national discourse.

With the phone and the internet, Kalyjay is revolutionizing the minds of Ghanaians and demanding the right things to be done. With the power of a concerted voice, other celebrities like Efia Odo, DKB have joined the train on May 9 a grand demo will be staged in Accra.

These individuals just like the many Ghanaians believe Ghana deserves better and the leaders need to rise from their slumber and start picking the tools and fixing the problems.

Well, Kalyjay has faced several pullbacks in his quest to push the movement with some Ghanaians trending hashtags like #FixYourself, #FixYouselfFirst, #GhanaIsBeingFixed to thwart his efforts.

However, just like Chairman Wontumi once said.” The movement is more than Apartheid (to put it loosely).

Kudos to Kalyjay [@gyaigyimii] for this national movement.
