Former independent presidential candidate, George Boateng, has urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to honour his “promise” to the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.

According to Mr. Boateng, Mr Akufo-Addo promised the late Rawlings he will provide job for him (Boateng).

He said Mr Akufo-Addo made the promise to the late former President Rawlings about four years ago.

He noted that the promise was made privately to Mr Rawlings who revealed it to him and assured that Mr Akufo-Addo was going to honour his promise.

Mr Boateng told DGN Online that now that the President was serving his final term of office, it will be best to provide him an employment.

He said Mr Akufo-Addo should employ him (Boateng) as his “messenger.”

“At least, the President should now appoint me as his messenger since he is in his final term. I want the President messenger job,” he said, adding that appointing will be of great service to the memory of the late former President Rawlings.

Also, Mr Boateng justified his call for employment on the basis that
has supported the NPP when it was in opposition about five years ago.

He said in 2016, he campaigned vehemently for Mr Akufo-Addo because he believed the current President has the same vision like the late Rawlings.

Meanwhile, he has urged former President John Mahama to back down on his Supreme Court case and let peace prevail in Ghana.

Mr Boateng had tried to file his nominations to contest then President John Mahama in the NDC Presidential Election prior to the December 7, 2016 general elections.
