A/R: Robbers kill Police officer in bullion van attack

A Police officer has been shot dead at Adansi Nyankomaso in the Ashanti region by suspected armed robbers.

The incident, according to the police happened on Tuesday morning.

The Officer was reportedly policing Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) Bullion Van conveying money from Dunkwa in the Central region to Fomena.

The robbers took away an undisclosed amount of money in the Bullion Van and an AK47 rifle loaded with ammunition which was in the procession of the deceased police officer.

Three other passengers including a driver and two staff of the bank who sustained injuries have been rushed to the Obuasi AGA hospital for medical care.

The bullion Van with registration number GT 543-19 which was conveying the money and the GCB staff has been moved to Fomena district police command.

Meanwhile, police personnel from the Fomena district command have been deployed to the scene of the incident to trace the robbers numbering about 10.
