Back in 2018, Tracy Chapman sued Nicki Minaj after Funkmaster Flex leaked the audio version of Nicki’s hit single ‘Sorry’ which featured icon Hip Hop star Nas on the basis of sampling her song.

‘Sorry’ was supposed to be on Nicki’s ‘Queen’ album but because of the controversy surrounding the song, Nicki dropped it from the album.

In September 2020, Judge Virginia Philips who presided over the case gave Nicki a little amount of breathing space when she ‘sided with her reasoning that “Sorry” was protected under fair use’.
