News went viral on January 5, 2021, that Kumasi Asante Kotoko players have refused to train ahead of their crucial encounter with Al Hilal in the 2020/21 CAF Champions League first-round qualifiers in protest over unpaid bonuses and per diems, several reports claim.

And it took the intervention of Ghana Football Association Executive Council Member Nana Oduro Sarfo who is the leader of the delegation to calm down nerves at the team’s hotel in Sudan.

Now, Kevin Taylor has taken a strong swipe at the Kumasi Asante Kotoko players for refusing to train in Sudan over delayed per diem.

Kevin Taylor took to his ‘With all Due Respect’ show to react to the decision of the Asante Kotoko players saying that, the players should be rather grateful for the benefits they are enjoying at the club.

“when have you guys delivered? Heart of Oak is scoring 6:1, you’ve been given everything, what you Kotoko players are enjoying today Hearts of Oak doesn’t even have one of it. This new CEO has given you everything, what do you need again?” – he stated

He revealed that these Kotoko players sat down in Ghana and the Sudanese team came and scored them 1:0. He said that the club’s management gave them everything they needed yet they couldn’t deliver and nobody blamed them. Therefore, if even the club is owing them per diem, the best thing to do is to talk about it at home but not going to Sudan and disgrace the club.

According to him, the most painful thing is that most of the players if it wasn’t because of Kotoko, they wouldn’t have sat in an aeroplane before but they are allowing some unscrupulous people to influence them behind the scenes.

He concluded by warning the players by saying that, since the per diem has been paid them, they should make sure they play their hearts out over there and come out with a good result in the game.
