Nana Okyere-Tawiah Antwi

NANA OKYERE-Tawiah Antwi, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly (AKDA), has implored eligible voters in the area, particularly the youth, to fully participate in the ongoing voters’ registration exercise to enable them exercise their franchise in the 2020 general elections.

He said during a tour of some voters’ registration centres that it would be meaningless if the people failed to register and vote in the upcoming election.

At Aboabokese Church of Pentecost polling station where he first visited, the politician advised the youth to remember the Free SHS policy and other social interventions programmes being implemented by the Akufo Addo government and vote massively for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for continuity.

Mr. Antwi, aka Oseadeayo, for his swiftness in fulfilling his promises, said it was the democratic right of the people to register and vote to select a president and an MP of their choice to lead them.

“You have the power in your hands to elect a suitable person to lead you and I appeal to every one of you not to disenfranchise yourself from the upcoming general elections,” he said.

The DCE has, since the beginning of the registration exercise, been distributing free nose masks and hand sanitizers to registrants without considering their political affiliations.

The free nose masks and sanitizers, he said, were gifts from Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to the people, describing them as a token from the President to show his love to all and sundry.

He advised the officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) and the registrants to always observe the Covid-19 protocols by washing their hands and keeping a distance at the various centres.

Madam Afua Pokuaa, an octogenarian, who had finished her registering, thanked the DCE for his kind gesture and promised to vote for the NPP.

“This is my voters’ registration card; If God permits and I am alive by December, I will vote for Nana Addo to continue his great works. I may join my ancestors soon, but I will vote for him so that he can bring more development for my children and grandchildren to enjoy,” an elated Madam Afua Pokuaa said.

Mr. Antwi also visited other registration centres at Aboabokese D/A JHS, Kwanwoma Presby Primary and Cocoa Shed, all at Kwanwoma where he briefly addressed the people at the centres and made similar donations.

Other centres he visited were D/A Primary, Presby Church, Assemblies of God Church and Pentecost Church – all at Krofofrom.

He applauded the EC officials and the leadership of the two major political parties in the areas, NPP and NDC, for their high level of professionalism and maturity exhibited since the exercise started.

He also commended the Assembly Member for Aboabo-Adum Afrancho Electoral Area, Adom Isaac, who had taken time to arrange the registrants amidst the social distancing protocol.
