”It doesn’t make sense when people say the NDC should have nominated an economist for the Vice Presidential candidature position”, a founding member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Mohammed Saani has said.
Speaking on with Kingdom FM, Alhaji Sanni wondered by the governing New Patriotic Party- NPP are so much concerned about the nomination of prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as running mate of NDC’s flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.
“It doesn’t make sense when people say the NDC should have nominated an economist for the Vice Presidential candidature position”, he said.
He further stated that “We are saying that, whatever she is, we the NDC like her; so what your problem is. How do you care? We have brought her, if you think you dislike her, you can run into the bush. She has come to stay. John Mahama nominated her and we the NDC like her as well”.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a press conference organized by its National Communications director Yaw Buaben after the nomination of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang claimed “is a clear indication that he [Mahama] does not take the Ghanaian electorate seriously”.
The party additionally made series of allegation against the former University of Cape Coast vice Chancellor, saying “in an ideal world, one of the strongest things going for the selection of the good Professor would be that she is a woman, and this would be met with a lot of enthusiasm. Unfortunately, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang hardly meets the expectations of someone who has a track record of fighting for women and their welfare”.
The Stalwart NDC member, however jabbed the NPP stating that the party has not got someone with the academic competence of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
This, he says is the reason behind their incessant attack on the former Education minister.
“When we speak of knowledge, the NPP would suffer before getting someone like her. They are now scared and don’t know what to say”, he concluded.
