The National Council of the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP], has endorsed President Nana Akufo-Addo as the single candidate for the flag bearer slot of the party ahead of December 7 election.
The endorsement, Ghgossip.com, understands took place at a meeting with the President.
Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was also in attendance as well as some key members of the party.
John Boadu – the party’s General Secretary announced after the meeting that the National Vetting Committee submitted its report to the National Council to the effect that at the close of nominations, President Akufo-Addo became who had filed to run for the flag bearer position
“The National Council has accepted the report and in due time the President will be declared as the flag bearer by popular acclamation”, Mr Boadu said, adding: The National Council has endorsed the candidature of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as flag bearer of our party for the 2020 presidential elections and we will officially do the acclamation on an announced date”.
The NPP, meanwhile, has set 20 June 2020 as the date for its parliamentary primaries in the 168 constituencies where it has incumbent MPs.
