Mohammed Polo Was My ‘Idol’

Ghanaian football legend Abedi Ayew ‘Pele’ has revealed that former Ghana wing wizard Mohammed Ahmed ‘Polo’ was his childhood football icon.

The former Hearts of Oak star, was a household name in Ghana Football in the mid 1970’s until the late 80’s because his great football talent.

Polo, was a member of Ghana’s squad that won the 1978 African Cup of Nations title.

Nicknamed ‘Dribbling magician, Mohammed Polo, has on most occasions been described as one of the greatest players to have emerged on the African continent, comparing his great talent to currently stars like Lionel Messi and co.

Speaking on GTV Sports Plus’ Time with the Captains show, Abedi Pele named Polo as someone he looked up to for inspiration during his early years as a juvenile footballer.

“Polo was my idol, he was everything to me, when I see Polo play it was just magical” he told GTV Sports Plus.

“The way he weaves through, the way he gives his body swerves, the way he runs”

“I was just glued at the stadium watching Mohammed Polo” he concluded.
