This marks Kidjo’s fourth Grammy win. Her album Celia pays homage to the late Afro-Cuban singer Celia Cruz, who Kidjo described as someone who “never shied away from her African heritage,” in an interview with OkayAfrica last year.

While sharing the Grammy performance by the Benin singer, Adina Thembi wrote: “To say I wanna be like her when I grow up, is an understatement!!”

She added the hashtag “#Goals#roadtogrammys” indicating that she’s eyeing the prestigious award.
