The
First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has urged hairdressers and beauticians to
show interest in creativity.

She
said it was important for them to have a firm understanding of tried-and-tested
modern techniques for them to sustain their relevance and be competitive in the
ever-growing business of lifestyle and fashion across the world.

“The
truth is that you have to be always relevant. This means continuous enhancement
of your skills and knowledge,” she said.

Mrs.
Akufo-Addo was speaking at the 10th Annual Salon Academy organized by the
National Association of Beauticians and Hairdressers (NABH) in Accra to take
stock of its achievements and map out the way forward.

The
event was used to celebrate the association’s achievements in the education and
training of its members.

Speaking
on the theme: “Skills Enhancement, the Medium for National Development”, Mrs.
Akufo-Addo urged the association to organize online courses to afford its
members the ability to learn from successful people in the industry.

She
entreated them to make plans and set goals for their businesses and also learn
proper accounting and financial management.

Besides,
she took the opportunity to advise them to take proper care of their health by
finding time to do thorough medical check-ups.

“It
is also important to take good care of your health. Find time to do thorough
medical check-ups periodically, including checking for breast and cervical
cancer and your HIV status,” she stressed.
