Accra, Jan. 9, GNA – An Accra High Court has
\nruled that Daniel Asiedu, one of the suspects standing trial for his
\ninvolvement in the murder of the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa
\nNorth, J.B. Danquah Adu, is medically fit to stand trial.<\/span><\/p>\n

At Thursday\u2019s sitting, Mr. Augustines Obuor,
\nthe defence counsel was expected to conclude his cross- examination of Dr.
\nSammy Ohene, a Consultant Psychiatric of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital on his
\nfindings on Asiedu aka Sexy Dondon.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Ohene after his medical examination had
\nconcluded the accused person was medically fit to stand trial but the defence
\nobjected to his findings.<\/span><\/p>\n

This led to the calling of Dr. Ohene into
\nthe witness box to be cross-examined on his findings on Asiedu.<\/span><\/p>\n

When the case was called on Thursday, Mr.
\nObuor had earlier told the state prosecutor, Mrs. Sefakor Batsa, a Senior State
\nAttorney that he had no further questions for the medical expert and also he
\ndid not intend to address the court on the medical expert\u2019s report.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Batsa also did not re-examine the
\nmedical doctor over the defence\u2019s cross examination of the medical expert.<\/span><\/p>\n

The court presided over by Mr. Justice
\nGeorge Buadi then discharged Dr. Ohene and adopted his findings, saying the
\ncompetence of the medical doctor had not been discredited neither on the
\nprocedures and evidence adduced by him.<\/span><\/p>\n

The court therefore declared Asiedu
\nmedically fit to stand trial.<\/span><\/p>\n

The court officially handed over the medical
\nfolder of the accused person to the doctor saying because it was a confidential
\nreport hence it has to be handed over directly to him.<\/span><\/p>\n

The court adjourned the case to January 23.<\/span><\/p>\n

Asiedu is standing trial with Vincent Bossu
\nfor their involvement in the murder of the late MP at his residence at Shaishie
\nin the year 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n

Asiedu has been charged with murder while
\nBossu is facing a charge of\u00a0\u00a0 abetment to
\ncrime to wit murder and robbery.<\/span><\/p>\n

The court has not taken the plea of the two
\nsuspects, who were lawfully remanded by into prison custody.<\/span><\/p>\n
