{"id":779357,"date":"2020-01-09T15:02:23","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T15:02:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2020\/01\/09\/implement-regulations-for-online-media-lai-mohammed-tells-nbc\/"},"modified":"2020-01-09T15:02:23","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T15:02:23","slug":"implement-regulations-for-online-media-lai-mohammed-tells-nbc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2019\/01\/09\/implement-regulations-for-online-media-lai-mohammed-tells-nbc\/","title":{"rendered":"Implement Regulations For Online Media, Lai Mohammed Tells NBC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<figure id=\"attachment_706153\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-706153\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-706153\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Lai-Mohammednew.jpg\" alt=\"Lai Mohammed\" width=\"800\" height=\"536\"  \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-706153\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lai Mohammed<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, has asked the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to implement regulations for online media.<\/p>\n<p>The minister\u2019s directive was contained in a statement issued by Segun Adeyemi, his media aide, on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammed, according to the statement, directed the NBC to implement measures that will reposition the broadcast industry, create jobs and promote local content.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read thus, \u201cFollowing my satisfaction with the report which was very professional and detailed, I wish to direct the commission to take the necessary measures to effect the implementation of the various provisions therein. \u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis directive covers the provision for the regulation of the web and online TV\/radio; regulation of international broadcasters beaming signals into Nigeria; hate speech; human resource and staff welfare; funding for the reforms implementation; monitoring; Independence of the regulator and ease of issuing licenses as well as competition and monopoly issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read Also:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Nigeria\u2019s Debt Profile Highly Exaggerated: Lai Mohammed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will empower local producers with proper funding and investment, enhance foreign collaborations, develop the local industry, raise the standard of local productions and ultimately lead to job creation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new regulations will also ensure that producers of content are paid promptly for adverts and sponsored content placed on all TV, radio and broadcast platforms, ensure that the production of adverts are localized to create and promote local production and, where it is not, to attract a charge every time such an advert is aired, with the charge being put into a fund to help develop local expertise in production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor musical content, a new regulation will ensure that broadcasters are prevented from illegal and unpaid use of musical works without payment of the applicable license fees and\/or royalties required by music rights owners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The minister added that the new regulations \u201cwill re-energise the broadcast industry,deliver real value in the sector and grow the creative industry for the benefit of the practitioners\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>              &#13;\n                    <\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lai Mohammed Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, has asked the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to implement regulations for online media.
