Hohoe (V\/R), Jan. 09, GNA – The Hohoe
\nMunicipal Assembly in the Volta Region would soon begin a demolition exercise
\nto clear all illegal structures on wetlands in the Municipality.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Andrews Teddy Ofori, the Hohoe Municipal
\nChief Executive (MCE), said this when he addressed an annual meeting with the
\nBusiness Community in Hohoe.<\/span><\/p>\n

The MCE said the Assembly was in the process
\nof getting the go-ahead from the law court to demolish all illegal structures.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we get the nod from the court, we will
\ndemolish and when we demolish, the owners of the demolished properties will be
\nsurcharged to pay for the cost of the demolishing,\u201d he said. <\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Ofori said the Assembly had not given any
\npermit to anybody to develop structures on reserved lands, adding that the
\nmenace had reached a level needing the Assembly’s quick intervention.<\/span><\/p>\n

The MCE therefore called on residents who
\nwere engaging in erecting illegal structures, normally carried out during the
\nnight to desist from the acts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Ofori also said the Assembly would soon
\ncommission an abattoir to improve on the treatment of meat, especially for
\ncommercial purposes in the Municipality, adding that it would also offer
\nindividual services to residents who needed those services.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said the facility was a modern one, which
\nwould bring an enhanced way of dressing meat in a hygienic environment before
\nbeing sent to the meat shop, which the Assembly was also upgrading.<\/span><\/p>\n
